We recommend using AccuArt which has been especially developed for processing highly translucent exposure drafts. AccuArt minimises UV undercutting when the film is being exposed and enables maximum detail to be retained, it also assists maximum adhesion on the self adhesive films.

Any inkjet printer should print onto AccuArt although Epson printers are recommended and the1400 model is ideal.

Yes! a laser printer will work. The material you should print onto should be Folex or vellum film, details for which are shown in the 'Sundries' section of the website. The Folex and vellum will work with all of the APM films although slight detail and adhesion may be lost when using them.

We find Corel Draw to be the most user friendly design programme, although you can also use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photo Shop.

As long as the RapidMask is stored in a light sensitive bag/box then you should be able to store the exposed film for about 7 days.

Yes the majority of exposure units should expose the APM films. To calculate the optimum exposure time for your own exposure unit a step wedge test should be carried out.

The engraving cabinet requires 9 to 10 CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air to operate properly and the air receiver should ideally be 100 litres. If the compressor is too small the abrasive will not blast evenly and it will affect the amount of time it takes to engrave the glass or crystal.

The compressors should be hard wired into the main fuse box by a qualified electrician.

The air pressure should be around 40psi, although this will vary slightly depending on the age of the abrasive that is in the cabinet.

The extractor part of the engraving cabinet (that houses the fan motor) have now been modified to enable the extractor to be removed from the cabinet. This will allow the engraving cabinet to fit through a standard 30inch wide doorway.

The cabinet weighs approximately 100Kgs.

The filters on the extractor should be cleaned every day by pulling the black knob on the right hand side of the extractor in and out for 10 seconds, the dust that is collected should not be reused as it becomes extremely dusty due to the fine particles of dust and tissue that are removed. If you wish to recycle good abrasive that has been extracted open the trap door on the base of the hopper prior to pulling the black knob in and out, this abrasive can then be poured straight back into the main hopper and used again.

We only offer training at our premises in Middlesbrough which is about an hour North of Leeds. Alternatively our nearest main line railway station is Darlington and we can collect and drop you off at this station.
